Advice on a IBM and Saginaw

Brian, Using Ruth's production figures shows that production started in January of 1944 was around serial number 3838000. IBM dated their barrels through December 1943 and the round bolt didn't start till Febuary 1944. The serial number in question dates no later then December 1943 so how would the barrel and bolt fit it? The serial number 3796XXX would have been made in November 1943 which would be too early again for the undated barrel and the round bolt. Did IBM recycle serial numbers from bad receivers and used them in 1944? TIA
