Why not set up the new forestock for shooting and do cosmetic repair on the old one, for display?
Looks like you still have the old threaded rods. Easy way to reinstall them is to drill out the holes just enough for a slip fit, coat with viscous glue (epoxy works), and push into the holes they came from, paying attention to align contour on the ends. Looks fine from the outside and holds as well or better.

Yep, it could be repaired but to achieve what?
I would love to have it, if it was properly repaired. To me it would be much better than a new reproduction. I think I see a patch by the rear sight. To me that makes it even better.
It’s just what I am looking for to restore by Bubba’d SHT. LE.

It is wood, it is repairable, I would.

To me it would seem to be a shame to use up a New Old Stock replacement fore-end on this rifle if the original can be repaired. Obviously there are a finite number of original N.O.S. replacements in existence. Looking at the pictures it looks to me like a fairly simple job to repair the original, just a little care and patience. You would still have the replacement as back-up if things go "Pear Shaped" with the repair.
