Well, took it to the range to dial it in. I wanted it POI/POA at 25 yards for my zero (good to about 250+). The Factory certificate said 133mm at 100 Meters, so about 5 inches at 100 yards. Well, I have found with the prior 6 Saigas I have had through the years, Ivan RARELY takes the time to do a careful group for the test, especially if it is a Monday, and he had too much Stolichnaya (Vodka) the week end before. This thought was re-enforced by the fact, the front sight was to one side, and barely came close to the black!
After a little dialing in on an AK zero target, I got this 10 shot, rapid fire group from a cr@ppy, wobbly rest with bad lighting! With the exception of the one flier, it was about 1"H x 1.25"W. That was about one shot every second, or so. I can't tell you how nice the trigger is with the modified Tapco G2 double hook FCG, even using the horrible factory linkage in its unmodified sporter configuration! Ammo was Tulammo 122 FMJ, and this was with the factory Iron Sights.

I REALLY love this Saiga. All my previous incarnations of saigas (two .223, and 4 7.62s) I eventually restored to pistol grip. Always I did such a nice job "restoring them" (i.e. plum or Russian
Red furniture, East German
folding stocks, 24mm FSBs, etc.) I would get people offering more $$$ for them than I could refuse, and I would, of course, sell them (being an entrepreneur at heart) . Even my last Saiga, that I bought just under two years ago (after moving back to the People's Republik of Kalifornication), I ended up restoring with Russian red AKM furniture. It was too pretty and got sold, which is fine, as a "Stock" Saiga is the perfect "California Featureless Build" allowing me to use my numerous "Legally possessed by me in California prior to 1-1-2000 high capacity magazine feeding devices" that I had from having a Roberti-Roos Registered Assault Weapon Type 56 Poly-Tech in 1990.
The difference in the trigger pull with the modified Tapco double hook is unbelievable - even with the funky trigger linkage. Between the sweet trigger, the Tactical Tri-Delta Comp brake, and the natural throw up and point of traditional rifle (M14
, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine) makes this Saiga an absolute joy to shoot! While I have the red dot scope for it, I prefer shooting it with the iron sights. I have no doubt I can whack 12"x12" steel plates at 200 yards with it using iron sights, and that is as good as I need for the pending hoards of Chinese Communist Zombie Paratroopers that might drop in.

The same day I took the Saiga to the range, I also took my new "California Featureless" 16" Mid-Length AR build to the range to sight in.

I actually had more fun shooting the Saiga than the Middy build!

How do you shoot a AR with a Pistol Grip like that ? I think I would have more fun too shooting the AK after shooting a AR with a Grip like that. Is that the way they all are in California or can you get one like the ones we have here in Texas for a Fee ?
