Old Lyman Lead Pot Gets a Brain

It's ancient and doesn't hold a lot of lead, but it's been my favorite bullet casting pot for years and years. But thanks to a friend with electronics saavy, this old pot is even better. Probably my best day casting ever was yesterday.





The thermocouple is mounted on a slider so it can be easily swung out of the way or removed altogether at shutdown.







Finally about ready to take on the 1891 Argentine bullet casting project.

My friend did the unseen wiring inside that hideous "reconstituted " aluminum box. I also added a real terminal box to the pot itself, as opposed to the taped up cobbledness that it came with years ago.

Maybe mine needs a brain too, it would improve the quality.

Nothing like a little PID automation. Next thing you know, it will be driving itself (hands off) down the street!
