The description is often important because certain flags are raised by certain words. Anything that says "Antique Britishicon Telescope" will probably not raise the eyebrows of a zealous customs inspector (think of Inspector Jervais in Les Miserables -- I've encountered people like this).

However, if you said "Military Sniper Scope" you will probably encounter a immense scrutiny as a possible weapons peddler.

You've got to clear both Canadianicon and UK customs, which are two hurdles of a different breed.

You've done the right thing asking the questions in advance before falling into a trap you did not anticipate.
