Springfield 1903 Info needed
Hello I have an Sprinfield 1903 I was hoping for more information on. The marking on it says US Springfield Armory 903 Mark I Serial Number 1070145. I'm just curious if a year can be determined and any other information. Thanks!

I think that should be a 1919 rifle. If it still has the original barrel you should be able to see the month, year (1919) of production, S.A. and the ordonance escutcheon on the barrel.

Dates of production (by serial number) may be found at the following link.

As mentioned above, the barrel date could help determine if it is an original pairing with the receiver.
And, of course, without pictures it never happened. Let's see it!

Looking at it now, I would guess the barrel is not the original. There are no markings on it at all.

You rifle has been completely "sporterized", there's no collector value left.

Thank you for the pictures. It may still be the original barrel, but the barrel date may have been removed when the muzzle end was altered for the new front sight.
It appears to be needing some optics, or at least a rear sight, if you care to take it to the range.

Classic Springfield Sporters are collectable, they represent the high end of sported military rifles from 1930 to 1960.

Thank You
Thank you guys for the info! I actually have no intentions of selling it, this one will stay in the family. However, it was important for me to know more about the year the gun was manufactured so that I could find out more about the history. Which you were correct, 1919.
There is no doubt my Great Grandpa used it for sporting activities. He and my Great Grandma both deer hunted with this rifle and I have since carried on big game hunting with it. It is missing the rear optics because he had outfitted it with an old Leupold dot scope which I have sent in the have repaired.
Once again, thank you for your help!

Just from the photo would guess you do have a GI barrel on it. Likely it dates from 1919.
