Very true. My kid just got to the sandbox 4/1 /09 his third time. Now I know how my father felt when I was in Vietnam.

British
Gurkha.
Funny as hell till game time.....then.....you do NOT want to be their enemy.
Ran into most of a battalion of them transiting in theater at the Deid in '07.
Very glad they were on our side.

#2 Son says the same things about the Mongols......EVERYBODY was afraid of those mean little SOB's around FOB "Charlie" in Al Hilla! He says he now understands how 100,000 of them and Gengus conquered most of the world! BTW, from the posted link photo....the guy looks more like the pics my kid has of the Mongols than a British
Ghurka (he appears to be cleaning an M4, not an Enfield!)

Ain't that the truth! Happiest day in my wife's life...according to her, was when she took that "star" out of the front window! Don't know how my folks did it either!

I remember reading that an Argentine
unit in the Falklands War surrendered to a Scot unit to avoid having to fight or surrender to a Gurkha unit. I think they heard what Gurkhas do to enemies with their Kukris and preferred to keep their heads on.
