    British BESA m/g belt

When the Britishicon decided to use the 7.92x57mm Germanicon cartridge in the BESA tank machine gun, they knew that capture German 7.92x57mm could be used in the BESA - my photo shows German WW2 7.92x57mm cartridges in the BESA belt

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Information for Jim K.

The headstamps on the Germanicon 7.92x57mm cartridges in the BESA belt are:

first; 3 41 emp S* black band at bullet seat

    second cartridge is the same

third: 12 37 P S* red band at bullet seat

fourth; 1 40 P25 S* red band at bullet seat

I do not collect 7.92mm German WW2 but could find out these codes

On my photo of the BRESA tank machine gun links with Germanicon 7.9mm cartridges, you stated that you did not know of any 7.9mm ammo that used case mouth markings like that !

I was able to identify these 7.9mm German cartridges they are as follows:

S.m.k. Tropical pointed bullet steel core two red bands.

S.m.K. L. Tropical steel core tracer black tip with two red bands

S.m.K. GI Spur Tropical night tracer small black tip two red bands

The case mouth colors were the sealant to protect the cartridge in the
tropical climate such as Noth Africa
