Type 99 - Jinsen Arsenal value?
This is my first post forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask.
I'm helping a friend sell his Type 99 rifle, he knows nothing about it. I collect US surplus and don't know the Japanese rifle market. Looking on the internet values are all over from 200 to 400. I'm looking for a starting point when he lists the rifle for sale.
The rifle is a Type 99 series 40 made at Jinsen arsenal. The serial number is low and the rifle looks better made then some of the "last ditch" rifles. Some parts of the bolt have matching numbers, but the handle shows a 5, not 8 like the serial number. The bore is shinny and I don't see pitting. The rifle is missing a few screws, the front band and behind the bolt.
I'd appreciate any advise on this rifle.

In today's market, I wouldn't go any lower than $400 and I'd get some better advice from serious Japanese collectors. Jinsen is an uncommon arsenal and it still has it's mum, condition doesn't look bad either.

Early made jinsen 99s are hard to find but this is not one of them. It is a pretty nice rifle though and like the above post says the value would be about $400 to the right person. If it had the original rod it would be worth more than that. The problem is finding the person willing to give a premium for a jinsen marked rifle. If you find a serious collector they would love it like me. But most guys will go flower blind and not care about the Arsenal mark

It is a nice rifle and hard to find. Go by what you learned on the Japanese Weapons Forum on gunboards IMO. I like it.
