If I was in a stoush I would rather have the man next to me wanting to be there than one who did not and possibly was liable to funk it - the AIF in WWI was purely voluntary "A great adventure" and conscription was re-soundly defeated by the people of the day when they tried to pull that stunt more than once Billy Hughes undoing I dare say, sadly for allot it was the last time they saw Australiaand for the many other Allies that helped the cause "We will remember them" actually ANZAC day is looming I proudly wear my fathers medals in recognition of all the servicemen & women who went away to all the wars our country has been involved in.
And as I have said it was a great thing when finally they recognized the Korean war vets and the Vietnam veterans, when the Vietnam vets came home they were shunned very badly and mocked and I felt pretty darn sad for our soldiers who went away it was a despicable act by those that are not worth even calling themselves Australians.
