I have a Brno VZ-24 in 7x57 that appears to be one of the JC models bought by the Sao Paulo rebels in Brazilin the 1930s. It is in great shape with most of its bluing intact, solid wood and a VG bore and muzzle.
Here is my problem, the sights are regulated to 300 yards and up, so the point of impact is high at less than 300 yard targets. I understand most if not all military surplus rifles will shoot high at 100 yards, but this one is impacting about 18" high at 100 yards. I have only been able to get Prvi 7x57 ammo with 139gr bullets, so I don't know if difference bullet weight/loads would change things much. The recoil of the 7x57 in a large ring Mauser is pretty soft and the groups I am getting are good compared to other milsurps I own, but the elevation is just way too off to get good repeatablility...
Does anyone here have any advice they could offer. Does anyone know what load this rifle should have been regulated for?
Thanks,
