stock refinish... less brown, more red
i been trying to get a salty looking redish tint to my bm59 stock,
the CMP

You are best off with Fiebings leather (alcohol based) dye. I use Cordovan, Medium Brown, and Chocolate.
You can mix these and get any shade you desire and you will not get the "orange" that you might with Chestnut Ridge stain.
Brownells sells what they call "military stains" which are again alcohol based and very useful.

Been useing Varathane Red Oak for sometime and really like it. I also like to finish with a coat of Watco red mahogany Danish
