The range is unique in that it is now surrounded by multi million dollar homes that complain about everything and a tree hugging university that wants the property for concerts and bike paths. Also immediately over the top of the hill like fifty yards is turn three of a world famous race track for cars and motor bikes that has made many racers famous from Zanardi to Rossi. The track is also threatened for noise and traffic but makes so much money on race day as in millions of $$$$ for the county it is safe for a short time. This year they took down the long range steel because someone found a spent bullet in the pit area. James Dean, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen and many others cut their racing teeth here. I have even put rubber on the the track in the 1970's with 400cc and 750cc Honda bikes. I also took my advanced infantry training less that a mile from there.
