Look real close to the top of this image. The rod is actually a barrel for a Ross I made. Needs the rifling cut, profiled, thread cut, chamber cut... I have a source to drill that barrel out. I have 6 that need barrels so well.... non around then build them myself.
I should have that done by end of august. Home restorations are priority now. Got to keep the wife happy!

The 3TPI thread I don't think is that huge of problem. A few gearing calculations and building a proper double reduction set up for a manual change gear lathe should have it in business. I will join that short list of guys who can do it soon enough. I've been playing with the machining end a bit more whenever I've needed a break from fitting stocks.

If we can get replacement barrels built within the community then I would certainly restore my chopped sporter, everyone needs a money pit project right?

Got the gearing figured out on my lathe. I'm now cutting 3 TPI.

Now this is a very good thing.
The smart money would be on scooping up every sporter Ross that is under $200 and turning out restos.

I'd love to do that. 05-R's are my favorite Ross. I like the Military rifles based on the 05 action too. If Altadiver gets the nosecaps built for the military rifles then it will be a viable venture for sure.

Just acquired a Ross mkIII action - pretty well everything but the stock and nose cap. Paid $15 to get it shipped and that's it so far. Love the action, definitely looking to restore, might even get a barrel later on if the one i got doesn't perform well.
On that note, definitely looking for parts.

PM altadiver that has posted in this thread, he makes nose caps and sight hoods and mentions a company that makes stocks in Alberta. flying pig who has also posted in this thread also makes stocks for the1905 and 1910 Ross.

There is no reason why barrels could not be ordered from Criterion or some other maker who could do Ross MkIII barrels as well as No.4 Lee Enfield barrels.

That would sure be nice. Then we'd have a member in Calgary that makes wood, barrels available, nosecaps available as repro, that would be the greatest part for the restoration.
