LE Butt stocks
The lengths are 12 3/4" (Long), 12 1/4" (Regular), 11 3/4" (Short) and 11 1/4" (Bantam)
Anther thing I have learned on this site was "Never say Never with Lee Enfields" meaning if you find one that is a bit quirky in markings does not really mean its a faker but may be real it just takes more investigation.
Though through the fogginess of time, a few wars and lesser scraps around the world some of the mods are not a sanctioned effort........

No marking on the upper surface indicates a standard length stock. You may well find the rifle much more comfortable reverting to a standard length stock.

I would leave it as is, I tend to take the just as issued. I adapt to the rifles dimensions. Is the different length butt stocks repeated for all the LEs regardless of country of origin? Where they issued to the soldier based on physical size? All my other military rifles came in one size fits all.

Thanks for all the details. I have learned more about my Enfield in several visits and my posting than all the years at the range and the information given by the bench rest knowitalls. The more I found out the more I think, should have gotten one or two more. That would have been a slippery slope. I was lucky enough that my first main shooting partner liked Enfields and we both had a No4 Mk1. If I do get some shooting time this winter (desert sport on Southern California), I am going to take her out and get the barrel hot. My thanks and appreciation again for the level of detail given.
