I bought one about 18 years ago, Couldnt hit the side of the barn if I was in it.. While cleaning it last year I noticed a crack in the reciever so I called Ruger. I sent it back to them and they sent me a new Ranch rifle. The wood to metal fit was tight, the front sight was like a M1carbine sight, The stock was a little more hefty and had a recoil pad. A few slight changes in the action. It shoots pretty good at 100 yds. I can knock golfballs off the fence and with the old one I couldnt hit the fence.
