rum runner: You may already know this but it's a BSA as indicated by the M47C visible on the left cheek. It's been through "Factory Thorough Repair" at some point, I guess at Fazakarley although there seems to be a Maltby mark on the bolt. From your description of the bore sounds like a good acquisition.
