    I believe that smell in Young's 303 is good old Creosote. As used for sealing telegraph posts, fence posts.

    Thanks Peter on the Young's being the Commercial version!

    It doesn't smell like any other oil, that's for sure. Always reminded me of my granddad's cleaning kit.
