Star Model B in 9mm Para

I have a couple of these and am starting to have FTF issues. I've tracked it down to nose diving in the magazines. Does anyone have a source of original or NOS magazines? I've looked around and there are a lot of reproduction mags but they just don't seem to work and they have tack welded base plates so I can't take them apart to adjust.

Star B were built for 38 Super/9mm Largo/etc but usually chambered for 9x19, shorter cartridges than 38 Super. Therefore, there is space in the magazine for cartridges to move forwards and back. They commonly nose dive, usually first or second round, as the magazine is too long for the 9x19, usually also with the 9 shot mags. Yes there are 8 and 9 shot Star B mags, check the followers for difference. Very frustrating jam when you're shooting IPSC.
Load mags, tap back against solid object such as table, boot, etc to settle the rounds at the back. That usually works. Or just get used to it.
Clean mags, using a brush from the top, slightly oil if possible.

Hmmm. I thought that the Star B was entirely 9mm , but the model 22 and the model A were designed around the .38acp and 9mm Largo rounds. I have never heard of one being chambered in .38 Super. What seems to confuse some is the Star Model B Super, where the Super doesn't refer to the caliber, but the change in barrel linkage.

I have no such feed issues in either of my Star Model B 9mm from 1945.

The military in South Africa still has thousands Star B/BS in stock and in use [since the late sixties]. Fact. Good service weapons for many years, given the right training. I have put many thousands of rounds through them in IPSC shooting. Oil them liberally for good functioning.
I have never seen one with a 9x19 size magazine, all mags have that space for longer rounds. A couple of the guys used them in 9mm Major after the necessary gunsmithing.

I too had a Star in 9mm long, never had failures in feeding like you describe. I wonder if at some point someone changed the spring for a new type and it's being problematic? It doesn't quite fit like the original?
