Seems odd to think that the Britishicon were still using DUKW's in Singapore until they left in 1970 or so. There was a Water Borne Logistics Unit at Palau Brani who had a fleet of grey painted Dukws all with XX YP XX numbers. Some were incapable of swimming back so were just left as scrap at the main Base workshop

    Peter,
They were remarkably reliable in soaring temperatures, so one has to suppose the Far East was a good spot for them

    Gents,
This is really sad news. This museum sale which is based at CATZ between Omaha and Utah beaches and run by a father and two sons, is very sad news indeed. They have kept this well under the radar. It isn't an easy thing to run any museum and make money these days, and highly likely why they want rid..................but it is primarily a tank museum and of a very high standard.

Hopefully we might get something for the Merville Battery museum and the hard work the Normandy Trust have put in over the years to maintain many Frenchicon museums like this.
The Normandy Trust is run by ex Parachute Regiment personnel, who give of their time to make sure the legacy of the campaign in Normandy is maintained for future generations, so they never forget the sacrifice made by all those involved.

I hope this is not a purely monetary sale, because once a magnificent collection is dispersed, it is absolutely impossible to get it back together again.
