I do recall it was a blast to shoot!

I had ten mags and would go through them in about 15 minutes. Then reload and go again...

I like to shoot the M3 trying to use the gun as a single shot due to the gun's low rate of fire. The last one I fired was a battered M3A1 built by the Ithaca Gun Company. Bent wire stock, sear spring weak, and also no finish on the gun but it still fired.

I wanted to do that but unfortunately when I had the bolt springs made they were a bit more powerful and changed the rate of fire...so auto was easier than singles...mine had been unattended for several years and had rusted. I had to take some turns off the barrel to bring it up to spec and bead blast the rest to remove rust. Mine was Guide Lamp.

The 9mm kits were given to troops who had been issued the M3 for D-Day. The idea was if they ran short of .45 acp, they could change the barrel and an adapter for the bolt and the magazine well. I don't remember if they were issued magazines with this kit or if they were to use those from an MP40 along with German 9mm ammo.

I believe the Sten Gun Magazine was the one that was used in the 9mm conversion kits. These kits were only made for the M3 and not the M3A1. There is someone current making the 9mm conversion kits. The Chinese also manufactured the Type 36 SMG in .45ACP and Type 37 in 9mm. I hope this was helpful.
