1941 Lee Enfield Long Branch No4 Mk1 (no star)

Likely refurbed at some point, in Canada, as there is no FTR stamp. All matching #s. Metal finish (looks kind of parked?) is great. Wood is good. Has a MkIII rear sight, hinged front band, MkI bolt release. Sorry for the crap pictures. Someone sent me these as I'm interested in buying. I'd like to hear what the experts believe the value range might be, thank you.

The '41 Long Branch can have some unique features. Do you know the serial #?

Badger led me to it already, which basically meant he was moving at light speed after I posted. Thanks again.

It is similar in some regards: it does have some of the unique features of the MkI. However, I think it's different enough to affirm that this one is a refurb.

Similarities are that it has the hinged band, the MkI bolt release, and of course is marked as a 1941 LB MkI.

Differences are that it has a MkIII rear sight, square cocking piece, and smooth upper handguard. Also the finish is rather dull in comparison and too good to not have been redone (at least it seems).

I can comment that in Canada (I live in the area where these where made) a matching '41 rifle with early features can easily exceed $2k. With the more uncommon parts or a lower serial number rifle fetching even more.

As for re-worked Rifles, the rifles still tend to get a small premium over a standard No4.

I have to see it and inspect in person but the bore is apparently very nice. My guess on value here in the US is... about $500?

If it's Parkerized with a Canadian made Mk.3 rear sight, I'd guess it may have been through FTR at Long Branch. It may or may not still have it's original barrel. You would need to take the handguards off to check the date. You won't find any distinct FTR markings present on Canadian rebuilds. If the bolt is matching and the barrel is decent, it's worth $500 + here in the USA. I just sold a nice 1950 C No.4Mk.1* that was original and matching but had been used and worked on in service for $659. I have a 1941 LB of my own that is just like yours, sn. 0L880. They are pretty scarce in these parts. I also rebarreled and serviced a 1941 LB last week that was converted to No.4Mk.1/2 by the ROF Fazakerley in 1953. The first one I've sen of hundreds I've had through here in the past 20+ years.

Too, parkerized could mean a private venture. I did lots of them, trying to achieve a black parkerizing by adding steel wool...this could as easily be one like that. Personally, I'd be buying a nice clean rifle with some dings in the wood, not an "As new-refurbed factory..." on and on. $500USD would be a decent price I should think.
