I have talked to Steve Mathews about his ME TE tool (it is a hobbyist and not the real thing but works just fine)

He never calibrated it to the 1917, but he said the checks he made were close.

As we are not talking small amounts here (relatively speaking) it does not matter if its 1/2 a number off or even a whole number.

they tend to fall in the very good to ok, or off the edge of the map.

My sampling looks like its no more than 1/2 off. Muzzle is identical. Just read at the recess in the crown not the top.

Also the SM ignores the first line (that is zero). We have seen sub zero on a couple rifles. Doesn't mean anything, mfg varation.
