Looking at the serial number on the receiver, it appears there is an "I" letter prefix that is poorly struck and further obscured by the "ENGLAND" stamp.
Original serial being I 77050, in other words.
When the 1940 barrel was installed, this "I" seems to have been transliterated as "1" on both the barrel and new bolt. The "1" is visible on the barrel, sticking out above the ".303" of the London Proof mark and it's plain as day on the bolt.
Curious.
