Questions on WWII M49 Spotting scope...

I have a decent WWII manufactured M49 Spotting scope (brass data plate) but it is missing the front lens cover/cap. Besides putting a Butler Creek "48" on there, has anyone ever seen original replacements for sale? Maybe a modern equivalent I can paint to match?

Did the early M15 tripod have a data plate or only the later ones? Mine doesn't have one.

Lastly, the straps securing the scope to the tripod, was it a leather thong or a fabric strap with a buckle? A source for surplus or equivalent? I'm trying to keep my kit all original.

My M49 Observation scope (the one I kept) has a fabric strap with buckle that holds the scope on the tripod. I have seen small 'radiator' clamps used also. My M15 tripod has no data plate.

I'm looking for an outside dia measurement of the objective cap. I'm going to get one made but the cap is slightly larger than the scope body. I need someone with a cap to throw me some caliper specs. Thanks.
