I did speak with him almost three weeks back and passed along a few needs. I also gave him the bolt head from my rifle to help. He did mention that the work load at his shop was very heavy now but he would see what could be done. I'll make contact with him this week and get back to you.

I spoke with the young man this afternoon and he said " I didn't forget you ". His work load hasn't lightened much but he hopes to make a preliminary assessment of the work needed sometime next week. I'll fill you in when I hear anything.

You are quite right DaveN had sets made and Brian was involved in sending them to the UK but sadly some arsxxxle in the USPS depot in the states stole the package and it never left.
USPS will not insure parcels to the UK, probably as so many go missing at there end so we lost the bits and our money.
I know that Brian did his very best to get it sorted but it was all to no avail. All I can say is that you live and learn.

If the package went by USPS it probably had to go through the USPS center in New York if the package being delivered to the UK and the same in reverse. Those folks are a pack of thieves that would put Ali Baba to shame. While stationed in Germany, I became a good friend of the commander of the French Foreign Legion Recruiting depot in Strassbourg. The commander had given a beer stein from each of the French Foreign Legion regiments. I stupidly sent them by US APO mail back to the states. Of course on the customs declaration I put beer steins, my second mistake. Needless to say, the USPS bastar*s stolen the beer steins and had the nerve to cut the addresse label on the box out and deliver that piece of the box to me! Anyway I was Pi**ed off by the nerve of those bastar*s!! When I reported the incident to the USPS service inspectors all they could says is "We know we have a problem up there." From then on everything goes by UPS, Fedex or DHL.

Nope, the Postmaster here in Edgefield and I did all the detective work and it was stolen in Miami. That is the big processing point for shipments originating in the southeast destined for the UK. The UK authorities were very helpful but there was nothing they could do since the package never left the CONUS. The Postmaster in Miami and Washington DC were useless and didn't really do anything to help. I lost a Mk.V Lee Enfield destined for Fultons too the same year thus ending my ITAR licensed USPS shipments to the UK. I will still ship books, small parts packages, (under $100 value), and accessories by USPS with the proper AES ITN which is a CBP lodging requirement for ALL gun parts leaving the USA. At least I can get good tracking on Priority Mail shipments but not 1st Class. As I've said before; FedEx, UPS, and DHL won't accept controlled/regulated shipments from the USA so the only option is airfreight via my excellent freight forwarder in Boston. This includes full insurance from Lloyds of London too upon request.

Sorry to hear about the MkV Lee Enfield being stolen by the USPS. It just unnerves me that their managers jsut do not give a *uck about what is taking place under their watch.
