Look at the top right corner of the site and type in the search box "boer mauser" ..
Although I haven't had a chance to create a formal Knowledge Library
entry for it, here's a piece from my collection …
1896 Boer Mauser Rifle Serial # B7772 (click here)
"One of the first 20,000 rifles delivered in 1896 to Z.A.R.
Serial number ranges were A1 - A10000 & B1 - B10000"
"All matching numbers except cleaning rod and un-numbered bolt"
"Vet bring back and was originally part of CMI collection"
Regards,
Doug

Here's a couple of pictures of a Boer war DWM manufactured Mauser M96 I owned a few years back, tatty and deactivated (not by me) due to the shot out and corroded bore and damage to the action body.
This example S/N 1695 was delivered to the Transvaal in early 1897, a South African mate of mine helped me decipher the wording carved into the butt, with a little research came up with this.
Captured and brought back to the UK
, either as Regimental booty, or by an Officer, I would love to know the capture history of this piece.
Name: C J Lourence (He was a member of the Wakkerstroom Commando and was unfortunately killed in action in 1900)
Town: MW STROOM ( Marthinus-Wessel-Stroom, normally known as "Wakkerstroom" )
They are very interesting Mauser's indeed, after all, how often can you track down the the original owner of a service rifle over 100 years later!

Classic Arms is a well known gun shop close to Pretoria and auctions many firearms every quarter. You can check their previous auction's prices and know what the price in ZAR was. I believe Classic Arms will ship, check the details on the auction site for their procedure and costs. Dependable and reputable AFAIK. Been to their premises too.

Kinda late reply but what will the shipping cost be from SA to the US?
