the guy with the $1800 mkV has had it there for several shows, and personally i don't really think he understands what it is. agree on rising prices. i bought a really nice Lithgowno1mk3 all matching, including the production numbers on the bolt and action. had to pay $425. a shade high, but she was pretty.
there was another '42 lithgow there in slightly better condition, but a jovino import. i think she was honest, but the price was $700; i passed.
burmese contract no4mk2 $750; irish contract no4mk2 $900; pass.
there was a 1940 lithgow i almost bought. she was really rough, and probably not shootable in that condition. she needed a new buttstock to be shootable. offered $150, and the guy wouldn't take it. pass.
