Don't waste your money on a reproduction scope......... save it towards an original and a bracket. ( probably more likely to find an original scope without the bracket, but they do come up once in a while, patience and luck are a few key factors)

Totally agree Geoff!
I had the misfortune to watch somebody try and zero one the other day at Bisley, it really was a piece of shite.
No matter what he tried to do with it at either 100 or 200 yards the scope did not respond.
Whatever happened to the old Pecar 32 scope? It wasn't an exact copy but it did echo in the Spirit of the Original.

Mick,
Never used a Pecar but know a few who used them on various rifles, never had repro No32 either, I do believe there are a few out there better than others ? I think Warren has brought a few up to a reasonable standard but still no where near the original, speaking only a few weeks ago to Peter who has repaired more than a few in his time...... said bluntly the same as you regarding the repo ones.
Its the price they were fetching at one point, I've paid less for original scopes and only in the last few years. Problem is as soon as someone gets a scope less "T" it becomes a quest to shoot it and get a scope on it ASAP...........the thing is you can still use the rifle as is with Iron sights until something does come along.
I'm a believer in repro stuff up to a point, sometimes no other option, same on my Matchless I'm doing, when stripping it down a few botched repairs probably over the years had been done, but they had stayed away from repro tin work from India (Mudguards, petrol tank, other bits etc) more work than I anticipated but not in any rush and can just plod on with repairing the botched repairs.....
There are a few things that I'll need which are repro or new made, the canvas grips for the handle bars, clutch plates, cables, seat cover etc, could scour ebay for the rest of my life ....... but I'm happy to put these on, Although some do get anal if the cables or HT lead are not WD marked........just an example were repro stuff is used, of course if it come with no wheels then it would be a waiting game for something correct to come along and I'd have a choice as any Matchless/AJS wheels would do up to a point (think 1948/49 they changed the size of the brake drum)....... much like a scope less No4T, either a Mk1,2,3..... just a waiting game......

As a scopeless (T) since day dot, I'd just shoot it with iron sights. Or leave it be altogether. (Quite frankly, scopes don't help group size much unless the rifle is sub-MOA to begin with.)
It's not like it went through the wringer and multiple Post-WWII upgrades/rebuilds.

The rifle looks 100% correct to me, including the cheekrest. Staining seems to have come in later. Staking IIRC from the little green book, was introduced apres la guerre and applied to rifles as they came through overhaul. If they didn't, then they presumably wouldn't get staked.
