Remington 1917
Have an opportunity to purchase a Remington 1917. It is in overall good condition. It is missing one sling swivel at the top barrel band. The stock is complete but it has been refinished, but the refinishing job looks well done. Gunbroker has these selling around $750. What's the top dollar I should pay in light of the refinishing issues? They are asking $400.

You failed to mention the bore condition. VERY important. Also, is it blued or Parkerized? Makes a difference. If the bore is nice, price works.

Bore is good and the bluing of the gun is really good in my opinion for a rifle of that age

I would like pictures.
If it is indeed in good shape, $400 is a bargain.
Bore is a big issue, it can look good and be bad.
One tool to assist that is a TE MW (Throat erosion and Muzzle Wear) tool from Steven Mathews. Around $54. good indicator.

What you should do is start a thread and have pics to get proper help...instead of this way.
