I find Armslist to be about a 50/50 chance of someone serious about buying or selling. Many of the rifles I approach are scams. Others are trollers looking for something; I don't know what. But it is a free service, so you have to harden against those that take advantage.
Even gunbroker is filled with thieves and cons. I'm currently tracking a repro USMC M1c mount and scope, mount purported to be original, but is not. GB has lost it's ethics in that they no longer guarantee a transaction, nor do they post the questions and answers at the bottom of a post. This keeps people like me from warning people that they are bidding on a fake.Information
