Your rifle would have a Mark I stock with a slight "notch" on the left side to clear the ejection port. The stock would be a grasping groove with a DAL or WJS stamp.

I have joined the SRS and would like to know how I can have someone search my 1903 MK1 s/n. I sent an email to editor@usmartialarmscollector.com but have not heard back anything.

Cherokee5425, just post the serial number and ask. There are several on this forum that will do look ups.

1903 MK1
I have researched serial magazine articles as well as several books, Poyer, Brophy and others. In all of them that have articles on the 1903 MK1 that have pictures none of them show any cartouches. From what I have read the stocks where usually stamped by an inspector but they do somewhat hint that sometimes they were not. Any insights on this problem?
