If you look closely at the picture, the officer actually seems to be closer to the camera lens than the rifleman. So the M1
isn't really pointed at the chest but off to the side. Optical illusion created by the camera.

We had one in Shilo Manitoba too. At the end of it's time it was a navigation aid from the training area, which had lots of badlands in it's range. Night time it still had lights...then they tore it down. The young guys today don't even know it existed.

Today you'd be charged for striking a subordinate. And you'd suffer too...it could have happened then as well, it was a charge that has been carried in the books for ages. Not something you want to bet on doing, no matter what.

I know everybody already knows this but just in case it's not known by some, Hadnot Point was renamed in 1942 to .......Camp Lejeune.
