Interesting Geoff, regarding a sec1 De Lisle build, I wonder if you could somehow fit a shaped steel rod, perhaps using the oil bottle/pull through channel and weld it to butt socket, then fit a suitably modified butt?

Having a butt perminently fitted to Enfield seems like a really bad idea.

That said, would the authorities regard a De Lisle without a butt as usable anyway??
