    Plugs

    Yes, they are removable. In the old days, real M1Cs were quite rare, so unplugging one to restore it was common. If you see an M1C with SA-52 on the heel, it has been unplugged. IIRC the plugs in the threaded holes just screw out. The two locating holes are tapered. We need a reply from somebody who has actually done one.
