    Hmm... the crest does look Portuguese.... the West Africa country of Guinea-Bissau was formerly the colony Portuguese Guinea till 1974 - it was known by the Portuguese as "Republica Portuguesa Guine".
    The pitted condition of the metal would be consistent with use in that climate.
