Saw that listing. Glad I'm not in the market for one.
Unfortunately we probably won't know what it finally sells for.

We do now Homer;
One could have had 3 x No.4's at $800/ea for that or a rarer type No.1 MkIII sometimes I am amazed just what one is prepared to pay for certain stuff and yes "they do not make them anymore" but there has to be a touch of reality here gents..........

Cinders, money is not a concern to those who have plenty. The individual who bought it probably doesn't want three No4's and may already have 100! He obviously wants the PH mag and may never have another opportunity to acquire one. If he has the right rifle and only paid 300 for it like I paid for my first one, I'd say he's made a fair investment. Good luck to him.

A gunsmith friend who passed last year had one in his collection along with a substantial Luger and broom handle semi auto's collection I wonder if his wife and son know just how much that little mag is/was worth

I think that some people just buy on impulse when they don't know what something is worth or what the "going rate" is for that item. Come the cold light of dawn or their wife finding out
about the purchase, they may come to regret it. If I see an item advertised that I think that I would like to own but I don't know if the asking price is fair or what the going rate would be, I look elsewhere first before committing myself. There are occasions with rare items, that are not readily available, where you do have to pay over the odds if you specifically want that item.

At that price, you can be sure that someone will - and "forget" to say that they are unlabelled replicas, a.k.a. fakes!
