Small but nerdy point!.......
Those empty cases Flying 10, may have been fired in a rifle.
If it had been from a Bren, there WOULD be VERY distinctive OVAL indentations.
In each struck primer. From the also Distinctive shape of the Bren Firing pin.
The earlier ZB series of LMGs would have produced similar witness marks on primers.

I too have one of these contraptions. Because I own a mk1 standard universal (aka Bren gun)) carrier, there is a small stowage box over the battery box at the rear of the carrier. The little box holds the Bren loading tool. So it's not because I ever think I'll need one to load Bren magazines (and we are limited to 5 rounds here in Canada for that matter) but because there is the stowage box, then I must have the loader.

Don't be shy Sten Collector........... Let's see it, side on, in portrait mode against a decent back-drop! You never know, it COULD be my next screen saver if I ever tire of seeing the magnificent Norton Commando that's there at the moment

Chargers and fillers.
A - Czech made 7.92x57 charger loader for the ZB26/30.The hopper can be filled with chargers and as each 5 rounds is striped the expended charger falls out.
B - Czech made loose rounds filler .303 British for British ordered ZGB's with 30 round magazines and Czech export Brens in .303 (note 6 metal dividers,6 stokes = 30 rounds/1 magazine)
C - British made Bren MKI .303 charger loader designed to clamp to a magazine box while magazine is filled. One charger located and charged at a time.
D - Czech made 8X56R Mannlicher loose rounds filler for the Bulgarian ZB39 (note 5 metal dividers,5 strokes = 25 rounds/1 magazine)
E - British made Bren MK2 .303 loose rounds filler (6 dividers)
F - British made .303 14 round expendable Bren charger
G - Spanish made 7.92x57 charger or loose rounds filler for the Spanish ZB26 copy FAO.Metal separator can be removed for chargers.Magazine retaining catch added to the ZB26/30 design.

Just tried loading .303 rounds into a .303 magazine with my ZB39 filler. The odd round does twist but I suppose this is to be expected as the 8x56R cartridge is quite a bit 'fatter' and the distance between the metal separator to the base is greater than in a .303 filler.
As a side note the .303 and 8x56R metal separators are not inter-changeable.

Minor pedantic point KG but I interpret the ACI/LoC instruction as the mag chargers (C and E) would be clamped to the gun chest while loading the mags KG. On the basis that the cranking/loading action wouldn't move the CHEST but would certainly upset the mag box unless that was clamped somewhere too.
Although when the Bren was introduced it was proposed that every platoon would have a platoon truck, a 15cwt lorry that'd carry the platoon kit, platoon Commander and Sgt - while the blokes hoofed it!

Thanks for posting the pictures of the mag loaders Kevin. One of the problems that I had when I was looking to purchase a loader was that I only had a rough idea what the thing looked like and there is a shortage of information and pictures relating to it.

Peter, all comments ,observations and corrections most welcome as all info is use full.
Not a pedantic point at all as my wording was wrong,I should have said 'ammunition box' or similar.
My info was taken from S.A.T. Vol I Pam 4 LMG 1939 -
Attachment 83298
The loader will not fit on to a gun chest as the clamping screw thread is about 3 inches too short in length (or you would need to carry a 3 inch block of timber to make up the short fall)
I agree the gun chest would be a more stable platform but in the past I have clamped the charger loader to a mag box and put my foot on the other end.....while comfortably seated :-)
I haven't had time yet to look through ACI/LoC's so will have to go trawling.
Also I have no idea how wide an ammunition box is to see how well it would fit......anyone ?
The clamping adjustment on the loader is between 10 3/8 max & 9 1/2 min.
