Look around for a decent 03-A3 receiver. You actually have a decent part kit there. The Phoenix-SAR has a parts guy with lots of Drill Rifle toys. Look around.

Been playing around with gun some. It really shoots well. Now before everyone gets their pantys in a bunch, the loads I have been shooting probably would be safe in a Daisy. I mean 6.5 grains of Red Dot behind a 115 grain cast bullet in a 30/06 case wouldn't blow up a cast receiver with 40 holes drilled in it.

so..
its like this.
say, your single, and in a bar, some good looking lady is all over you..your not sure,, seems too good to be true,
so,
you ask some guys that may know her.
couple guys say,, not sure, iv never been with her, she seems ok,. might be fun.
then, a couple other guys say,, no way,, she gave joe some weird stuff, made him sick, had to get a shot,,
then,, you talk to Joe,, he shows you pics.. and has you talk to Sam,. he says,, the same thing.. says she gave him something nasty,,
so.
you toss caution to the wind and take her home..
its all about choices... some lessons, really dont need to be learned more then once

You would think the hole drilled into the barrel extension would have held it all together.

Yes, the scope mount would be strong enough...
The scope would come up and whack you in the mellon.

The "Hatcher Hole" on the left side of the receiver ring held, kind of.

The long slide Lyman 48 rear sight is actually worth more than the rifle. The rifle does not look bad. The National Ordnance receiver is a definite NO-GO. As what other folks would suggested, I would shop for a new Remington or Smith Corona reciever If your lucky you may find that has already been drilled and tapped for the Lyman 48 rear sight.
