What should be my next WWII era firearm?

unfortunately, I don't have a bigger one, unless you count the expanded version when you click on the picture. It does seem like a good one to me as well. I'm just waiting on any details that the man can give me.

Just gotta drop in here and say this has been a good discussion. I have read all posts. You'll find your Arisaka. I bought a rough one for cheap with a good bore at Knob Creek.

That is a nice Arisaka. Hopefully I will be able to find one that isn't higher that what it is valued.

Anyhow, the man who was selling this was unable to send me more than a few pictures. His camera unfortunately died so i am going to haveto wait. he said that there didn't appear to be any work on the stock, but but the pics, I am unsure.

If anyone can give me their opinion on the stock, please feel free to post. The pictures aren't really the best at showing the stock, but perhaps you guys can spot something that I can't

I've been collecting military arms on a tight budget for many years, and have accumulated a huge amount of guns in the last 35 years. I don't know much about them all, just enough to be dangerous. But the one thing I have learned, and that only lately and mainly because of this site, is to buy the best example you can find. That means don't compromise on the important things, like all-matching, non refinished, good bore, no cracks, nobad rust or pits and intact markings. Especially the mum. You'll be happier in the long run. Be patient, there are plenty of decent Arisakas out there.
Good looking guns are like good looking women- they satisfy for awhile, but eventually you want more.

Another thing to consider which many collectors do is they buy a example of the rifle, and later on upgrade as better examples become available. Unfortunately you are only able to buy what becomes available on the private market at the moment it becomes available. This means either waiting what can be a very long time for the example you want, or upgrading when you can.

That is probably what I would do, if i get the chance. I need something to compare another one too.

I also learned that the man selling this is also planning on selling more, and is sending me a list of what he has.
