Here is the Tavor...X95



This Tavor is in OD green.

The sling is a Savvy Sniper Sling and boy is it slick and I really like it!
Red dot is a Trijicon MRO w/KDG sidelok mount with a Trijicon MRO rubber cover. Handy when he fell on it!!
FAB Defence folding hand grip.
Inforce WMLx weapon light. That "x" cost extra..LOL

I've not shot a bullpup rifle yet but have handled 4 - the Tavor, the KelTec RDB and RFB, and the FN FS2000. Of them I like the RDB the most so far. Best balance and best fit for me. One downside to bullpups is it seems the gun either fits you really well or doesn't, and if it doesn't you are limited in options to change it. I still really love the PS90 but not it's ammunition.

One thing I do kind of like about the Tavor is that final assembly takes place not far from me, in Harrisburg... have looked at jobs there from time to time but too hard to work around a full time college schedule. Weirdly I see very few IWI weapons in shops here, when they appear they go fast. They have however kitted out the Capitol Police with Tavors, never heard anything about how it is working for them.

I was issued a Steyer '77 way back in 1980 on my second overseas deployment...and a Carl Gustav SMG. You guys might better know them as the AUG and the M45. I liked the SMG but the only things I liked about the Steyer was the optic had a circle for a reticle and it was perfect. The other thing was the magazine, it was basket weave and very well built. It was see through so you could count your ammo. Australia has been using that one without complaint for decades now...

They have however kitted out the Capitol Police with Tavors, never heard anything about how it is working for them.

I doubt they employ them much...

I am unsure about Capitol PD but many departments around here do not have dedicated training areas and will use local clubs... there are also a few dedicated Law Enforcement training ranges around that I believe are shared, but either way word can get around about things. There was a vague rumor of issues at initial adoption but who knows the whole story or if there was even any truth to it, the entire circumstance of their adoption makes me suspect that very little to no tax payer money was spent on the guns so as long as they work now and will work when they need them it's all that matters. Must have been okay as a few months after adoption I saw a handful deployed in response to a threat against a college campus I happened to be on at the time, story for another thread.

I find the Steyer has a great cool factor! Would like to try one but seeing as I live in Canada would be impossible.

Have shot a H&H 416 and H&K MP5, both are great IMO, function flawlessly and good bang for the buck.

Most enjoyable FA I shot was a Lewis many years ago. My dad was a Lewis gunner in WWI and it was a treat to shoot what he used almost the entire war

I had an HK MP5 which was configured as the little PDW years ago. It had the folding stock. It was flawless. I shot the Lewis at the Wardlow AB full auto shoot back in '88. I had one issued to me in basic training to care for during our Regimental trooping of the color. Also there was a Bren and a #1 and #4 rifles, also a Sten. I took lots of time to handle the Lewis and Bren...while the rest of the guys went out drinking...

The Tavor did well today at the military shoot. My son was using it and got a 1st in advanced combat rifle.

That category is a military "combat rifle" that has a optic (max 4X), his has the Trijicon as in post #11. Did well and 100 and 200 and struggled a little at 300 as the targets were in a deep shadow, difficult to sight correctly with a red dot. Considering shooting against scoped rifles he is happy. We need to put a good scope on it and see what it will do.

He beat me, I placed 3rd with a AR, short loaded one mag one round which probably cost me a 2nd as IIRC I missed that by one point. Frustrating but my stupidity!

Appears I'll be up in Vernon/Kelowna on the 6th. I expect it to be 35 C then...was it warm today on the range?
