Cheers 30three as my cars do not go up north where temps can get off the scale our climate down south is more temperate the only thing I do is give the vehicles (2 commodores) time to warm up correctly all it means is a few more minutes sitting there listening to some 50-60's music which is fine by me. My 4x4 has the 50/50 mix as there is a good chance it will be going north on a shooting trip sometime to thin out some feral animals.

Thanks for that Painter and the others who have contributed. Three of us have gone down this route. Me last year in my 2001 last of the old style minis, my friend a chemist with a Midget and another pal, a metallurgist with a Triumph Dolomite Sprint. We've all decided that it's the way to go. I would question how "searching" the Evans or similar waterless product is? Antifreeze certainly has "searching" properties and the stronger the mix the more likely the chances of a coolant leak occurring. A coolant leak on a hose isn't too much of a problem but it is certainly more of a concern with the cylinder head gasket. Does anyone know if these waterless vehicle coolants have similar "searching" properties to a glycol based antifreeze mix of say 50/50% mix? Are the waterless coolants less, more or about the same likely-hood of creating a leakage in the cooling system as using a glycol antifreeze/water 50/50 mix?

For anyone in the UK interested in anything Military but "Big" to park in the Garage or driveway, have a look at Milweb, see link below and choose whatever you fancy from the left hand column, armoured tracked, artillery, Motorcycles etc, jeeps ......... there is 1942 live 25 pounder field gun which I've always fancied but am short of the £12500 they were under £10000 not long ago.........
there was a spare barrel on there for £3000 few months back.

Of course once you have the gun then you need a Morris Commercial or Ford to tow it......

That looks interesting Geoff. It begs the question that if I got a variation to my Firearms Certificate to acquire said piece how am I going store it securely in my gun cabinet!
If only it was on our obsolete calibre list then no licence needed of course.....

I often wondered about the storage cabinet....... but I think you can get away with fairly secure such as remove wheels etc and remove some of the breech block ?? saying that there was someone on the HMVF site that had a Bren Gun carrier stolen, it was in storage at some compound when a low loader come along and of it went........ the owner didn't know until he turned up a few weeks or months later to do something on it.......
