Type 38 Bayonet lug question
So i found a nice barrel and receiver with mum still attached for 60 bucks so i figured i would rebuild a original looking rifle out of it. But when i got the front barrel lug for it i already had a type 30 bayonet from my bring back type 99 my grandpa left me after he passed but the bayonet will not fit on the type 38 lug i got was there different styles of lugs or bayonets for the type 38?

No. The type 38 rifles all used the same bayonets. Might be some slight variation of the barrel band but the lugs should all be the same. The bayonets were used from the Type 30 rifle through the "last ditch" Type 99's. They even fit the Type I and both carbine and long rifle versions. Only the paratrooper rifles used a different bayonet.

Sometimes it takes a minor fitting to slip on. That's just from a bash or just time...have a good look and try to see why. Just a touch of a file perhaps inside the mortise slot?

well looking at it more closely its looks like the lug was banged around a bit and bent the lower half of the lug so just going to get another lug and set the other aside as spare parts.
