Unusual K98 Carbine

Sounds like it could be a KAR98. Look some images up of one of those and see if that's what it is. Hinged bayonet collar and flattened bolt knob sound like it anyway. Other things don't make sense. Could be an upgraded one, Spanish conversion, etc.

Having looked at some pictures from Google, it seems very similar to what is referred to as a Kar98AZ. Except that the rear sling attachment point was a milled depression further back in the stock with a crossbar rather than the through the stock method seen on the Kar98AZ and Kar98k.
