The tie down on my bayonet scabbard looks like a black flat boot lace if that helps, purpose who knows would be useless to tie down on your leg one would imagine.

I've always been fascinated by those guns. I suspect with that ammo it will shoot quite well, the Austrian Hirtenberger is top quality.

I got my FR-8 at a yard sale believe it or not. Like new. Out in the middle of nowhere.

Found a Spanish FR8.......
Nice rifle.......
I love the FR-8 and have three as well as a FR-7. It's neat to have a ready made sporter that is actually a military issue rifle.
The FR-8s were re-purposed M43s that were built on Model 98 actions. (see picture below)
The FR-7s were model 95s and as a result should be slightly downloaded to be safe.

I certainly do not wish to start the .308 vs 7.62x51 debate as that has been covered ad nauseam through out the interwebs.
