Marking on the grip of a Winchester
Going through the safe I saw this on one of my Winchesters. Anyone seen a marking like this before? I hadn't noticed it before, and would like any informatiuon someone may have.
Maybe some enterprising individual??
Thanks, Jim

I haven't Jim.
It even mimics the intertwined PW in the oval circle.
Just remember the small letters found on.......... WTH were they? Stan Pro? IBM maybe like a small k and others etc, but never on a WRA.
Good question for Marcus or Roger.
Are you doing inventory?

I'm kinda hoping they will be looking at this.

Some IBM's have single letters in on the bottom of the pistol grip.
The stamping shown looks too nice to be home/bubba work. At first was thinking maybe a Bavarian marking.

I have a feeling Jim has owned that well before any of us heard about a Bavarian, but could be wrong. I know he's done some trading over the years.
I have more questions Jim, but not the right time, don't want to get side tracked.
I'll Email Marcus asap.

Jim,
I E-mailed Marcus.
I believe I still have Newscotlanders, BQ's and Roger M's e-addresses. I'd be willing to try them later on if no answers are found shortly.
IMO, I believe someone has copied the WRA proof mark.. No other reason for it. Can't believe it's a Police type stamp, like the DPD stamped ones.

Someone with a lot of time on their side with nothing to do.

My guess as well.
Charlie, you are correct, I've had this in the back of the safe for at least 30 years. Pulled it out to oil and noticed it.

That's a stamp set and someone trying to create something. I could do that here with my stamps and a few minutes.

Is this a stock that originally had a circle P on the wrist?
