Empty containers will appear as that when they go through X-Ray so there's no issues. I've sent stuff like this around the world without problems. Just box it up completely and they may open it...no big deal.
Or do you mean the box the howitzer came in?

Would not something like a howitzer shell container or anything else that has once had something explosive in contact with it likely trigger detector mechanisms in the postal service, assuming there are such things, due to tiny residue amounts attached to the container? This wouldn't really be a problem but would probably mean the package being opened.

I would suggest looking for something similar for sale, perhaps eBay, and see what the asking price is. I wouldn't have thought that, for a 1980s container, they would be worth a high price.

forgive me for chuckling, take no offense, but ebay is the first place the world goes for price shopping. I was hoping a specialty website such as this one would be the place to get a good quick response. I was hoping to hit on a cache of purists mingling here who would be in the know.
if ebay is the answer for everything, there wouldn't be a need for other websites. you see my point right?
but thanks for your interest and response.

But if you post a picture here of what you are selling or wish to buy people here will have a better idea of what you are talking about.
