Welcome to the forum, it looks like a nice metric FN, looks like it's been renumbered away from the factory. Was it a parts gun assembled?

Welcome aboard Nolle, as Jim said, looks like a nice Fn Fal.
Don't think I have ever seen a rough re-numbering slot cut into the Bolt Carrier spine before.
Has the breech block been renumbered too?
Seems like a slightly heath Robinson way of re-numbering!
Is there any evidence left of its original contract in the receiver lightening cut?

Hi,
Not a parts gun bought it from the person as it is.
Will send some more pics when back at home.

Just had another look in the lightening cut panel and there is definitely the remains of some writing in the image. If you can decipher whats there, it will unlock a lot of information regarding your rifle, contract / Country of destination etc

Very nice, wish they weren't a prohib. here in Canada.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I had one of those metric guns some years back, what a beautiful example. It was just about new and was perfect. The bore shone like a new nickle and the action, when cocked and released with no mag rang like a bell. What a beauty. It had a beautiful unmarked fore stock and furniture. The finish was perfect... It had the little low sights that came on some of them.
Later after it was sold, the next owner transgressed against some law or other and the gun was seized and went through the shredder of the RCMP. So, all endings aren't always happy...

What a shame Jim... Why does the Canadian Government have an issue with the Fal, but AR15's are OK?
Is it a calibre based thing?

No, although there is that too. It was a list produced by the would be saviors of society at the time. FN and all resembling were a part of the group called "Converted Autos", and anything like that needs a registration slip. When they jam you up and cancel your license, even for a short time those firearms have no more registration and become unregistered. They now become prohibited firearms. They must now be seized and have to be destroyed. That's the nutshell... More laws are about to burst forth in Canada, keep watch on the AR 15 class then...and ilk...

Sounds about as sensible as our rules Jim.
If they went the draconian route of banning AR15's, would that also mean .22lr versions too do you think?
These rules make me so angry, decent law abiding people being punished by cheap vote winning politics, because of the criminally minded and the stupid...
