Beuty rifle! Looks new!
Is the bracket mismatched?
Or is the rifle serial re-stamped on it somewhere?

The rifle is a peach & so is the scope & bracket, but making up an 'honest mis-match'. Perhaps the previous owner bought it in the days when people did not appreciate the importance of keeping the matching scope with its corresponding rifle? You could understand it if there was a pile of rifles & a separate pile of scopes in the store & the prospective purchaser was invited to 'help himself'. People would tend to pick the prettiest rifle & the prettiest scope, if they weren't any the wiser.

I used to stress over fully matched weapons only because I read so much about german guns.. I think that's why. Anyway, since then, I have stopped obsessing over the matching if it can't be obtained. The rare full matching No.4 Mk1 T's are out there as I know where 4 of them are located, so this one being mismatched does not bother me at all. Honestly, I was not interested in the weapon except for the chest and how it matched the rifle... I have never seen that and of course, I had to have it. Here is a fully matched No.4 Mk1 T with a good looking fellow and matching shirt.

I by no means meant my quiry as a slight, and I hope it wasn't received as one, the rifle is perfect in every way!
Congrats!

Beautiful kit you have there Speckles. Wish I had friends as generous as yours with their information!!!
You speak of how you were not overly interested in the rifle but the fact of how the chest matched the rifle and you had never seen that before and that really sparked your interest. I may be missing something but not sure what you mean by that? I see a chest that is period correct and it is also not a "T. LESS-TELESCOPE" chest which is good but again not sure about the "matching chest".

missing picture
chest has this attached... I suppose its ez to say that someone placed it there for value but if you looked at it in person you would probably think otherwise. Either way it matches the rifle.. even if it did not match, I still would have gone after the weapon as the chest a significant value as well.. Had it not had the chest, I would have passed as I have too many T's as I am a gun hoarder. I suppose that is what I meant by not having interest in another T. I bet, and I am not a better, most collectors would have pulled the trigger on a roughly half price gem.... I am not trying to be flippant over buying this gun, but, it was a deal I certainly was not going to pass up. And yes, friends are great!

Bingo!!!!!!
I see what you mean now. I don't think that picture was included in the other sets of photos!!!!
Yes again, very nice!! I have the exact same tag on my LongBranch sniper chest......serialized to rifle # as well.....also inscribed in pencil. "Inspection Date" not filled out, same as yours.
I'm no expert in these maters but I would say they both look as dated as the chest's they are attached too.
Thanks for the clarification.
