Grand Rapids NEVER used the adjustable rear sight. Their contract to make carbines ended in December 1943. S.G. did use them starting in March 1944. Both the type 2 and the type 3 adjustable rear sights were used at the same time. There was a time difference at plants and in the field. When first used they were in very short supply. It eased up some when all but Winchester and Inland ended their production at the end of April 1944. It wasn't till May 1945 when armorers started to get the adjustable rear sights as replacements. That is when Inland had to revert back to the type 1 rear sight to keep production going.Information
